Language Modification Research Project
Rachel O'Neil is doing a PhD research project investigating language modification with deaf students in the 14 - 21 age group. She is looking for example of texts that have been modified for deaf learners. If you would like to participate please follow the instructions from Rachel below:-
For each person who joins in I would like them to fill in an Agreement form (at the end of the Participant Information pdf, see link below). What I'm looking for is some examples from lecturers or CSWs of texts which they have modified for deaf learners (although the texts may also have been used by other students too).I only need one text per tutor / CSW, but I would also like a form filled in which provides a little more detail about the deaf student, the learning context and the modifier. I would like the before and after version of the modified text please. This could be sent electronically or through the post. The deadline for this phase of the research is April 2010.
I would like to find about 25 practitioners from Further Education from all parts of the UK. The language modification doesn't have to be a particularly good example, just a recent and typical one.
Thanks very much.
Best wishes
